Medication

If you are on repeat medication with us,  we encourage you to download the NHS App,  as this is the easiest way to request , if you have a smartphone (or online access to your NHS account).  We can help you with this.   You can also request your medication through reception  (we can print off your repeat list for you).  Please allow up to 2 working days for your GP to approve requests.   For long term medication,  it can be easier to arrange a batch of prescriptions to be authorised (eg 6-12 months).  Our in-house pharmacist could help set this up for you .  This is known as “repeat dispensing” or “RDS”.  Most prescriptions are sent electronically to your nominated chemist.

A request may be queried if it is early,  or there are clinical concerns.  It is helpful to know if there are special circumstances. For hospital medication suggestions,  we need to receive correspondence,  which can take up to 2 weeks . Ideally hospital pharmacies will dispense in this situation, though we appreciate this isn’t always possible.  We are taking on medical responsibility for all our prescriptions,  so we may not always agree with requests or suggestions,  especially if for controlled or dependence-forming drugs.
